Resumen

La participación en experiencias de ocio y desarrollo de habilidades comunicativas son fundamentales para el bienestar y la inclusión social de personas con discapacidad. Esta investigación se centra en el aprendizaje de la lectura en personas con discapacidad intelectual (DI) y en la búsqueda de estrategias para hacer que la lectura sea más accesible para este grupo de población. Mediante una intervención en un club de lectura inclusivo, el estudio analiza cómo la participación en esta experiencia de lectura influye en diferentes ámbitos de la vida de adultos con DI, evaluando su desarrollo personal, social y emocional, habilidades de lectura y su inclusión en la sociedad. Se diseñó una fase de recogida de evidencias basada en un enfoque cualitativo, mediante la realización de entrevistas a 22 participantes (usuarios, estudiantes universitarias voluntarias y organizadores). Los resultados muestran un alcance positivo de estos clubes en diversos aspectos de la vida de los participantes, lo que enfatiza la necesidad de continuar adaptando estas iniciativas para satisfacer las necesidades específicas de las personas con discapacidad. Además, se subraya la importancia de crear una cultura inclusiva que reconozca la autodeterminación como un factor crucial para la integración de las personas con DI en la sociedad.
